In depth

Three commissions, start to finish

How each project moved from a first conversation to a delivered library of work.

South Church Brewing Co.

When a pair of former print engineers converted a unit two streets from our own studio into Bishop Auckland's newest microbrewery, they asked us to capture the first pour. We spent launch night with two cameras — one roaming the taproom, one locked on the brewhouse — and cut a ninety-second brand film within forty-eight hours so the opening had momentum online while the town was still talking about it.

The stills from the same evening now carry their social channels, and a follow-up shoot at the brewery's first Bishop Auckland Food Festival appearance extended the library. The film opens with drone footage tracked along the River Wear at dusk, resolving onto the taproom lights — a piece of Bishop Auckland geography we know by heart.

Dales View Glamping

A glamping site above the Wear Valley needed imagery that matched what guests actually see from their deck chairs. Ground photography alone flattened the valley, so our CAA-authorised drone team planned a dawn flight over the pods, the hay meadows and the switchback lane that guests drive up from Stanhope.

We delivered a two-minute aerial film in 4K, a set of looping clips for the site's homepage, and a photography library shot across two seasons so the site can swap its imagery with the year. The owners reported that returning guests now mention the film by name when they come back each season.

Makers of the Wear

A woodworker from Hamsterley, a ceramicist from Wolsingham and a saddle maker from Barnard Castle walk into a podcast studio — and keep coming back. Makers of the Wear records monthly at Hutton Close, and we handle everything the hosts do not: room setup, four-mic mix, remote links for guests further afield, editing, levelling and delivery of a mastered file each month.

Thirty-eight episodes in, the show has outgrown the studio more than once, and we have taken the recording rig to village halls and workbenches across the dales. The intro music was composed in-house, and the episode artwork uses our photography of the makers' hands.
