About the studio

A small studio
with big frames

6MEDIA NE LTD. was founded in 2019 by director Andrew Sixsmith and is run from Unit 1, Hutton Close — a converted light-industrial unit on the South Church Enterprise Park, five minutes from Bishop Auckland's market place.

Why we're here

Regional businesses deserved better than London rates and London ideas

For years, companies between Durham and the Tyne had two choices: stretch to a big-city agency or make do with a phone camera. Andrew — who grew up in Shildon and learned his trade cutting local wedding films before moving into commercial work — believed there was a third option: a proper studio, with proper kit, on an enterprise park off the A688.

The studio now produces films, photography, podcasts and identities for businesses across County Durham, Teesside, Tyneside and North Yorkshire, and our drone work has carried Bishop Auckland's name into tourism campaigns far beyond the region.

The way we work

Three things we refuse to compromise

A

Local first

We hire local crew, use local suppliers and film local stories. When you work with us, your budget stays in the North East economy — the same one your customers live in.

B

Honest pictures

We light well and grade carefully, but we do not fake what your business looks like. If the film promises something the reality cannot match, customers notice — and so do we.

C

Small team, senior hands

The people who pitch your project are the people who shoot, record and edit it. No hand-offs to juniors, no account layers — you always know who is holding the camera.

The people

Led by Andrew Sixsmith

Andrew directs most of our film and drone work and still cuts the final pass on every project that leaves the building. Around him is a core team of four: a producer who keeps shoots on schedule, an editor and colourist, a photographer who also designs our identity work, and an audio engineer who runs the podcast room.

When a commission needs more hands — extra camera operators for an event, a grip for a big lighting day, a make-up artist for interview sessions — we draw on a trusted roster of freelancers, most of whom we have worked with since the studio's first year.
